Last night in Houston, Bartolo Colon entered the eighth inning with a perfect game. Although he missed the mark by only a few outs, Big Sexy proved that he’s still got it.
Topping out at only 92 MPH he showcased his ability to spot pitches, and let his defense do the work. He brought the leather as well, knocking down a rope from Springer that should’ve been an easy single, instead turned into a 1-3 putout.
Even though he looked like a dad throwing batting practice to 7 year olds, Bart was affective, and kept the Rangers in the ballgame.
It became quite the pitchers duel as Justin Verlander went 8 innings giving up only 1 run on 1 hit with 11 K’s. He was lights out, but Bartolo’s vintage performance cast a shadow over JV’s strong outing.
The baseball world was on its toes last night awaiting the ever evasive perfect game to fall into the hands of Big Sexy himself. Sadly, he walked Carlos Correa before giving up a double to Josh Reddick to end his perfect game and no hit bid, in a matter of a few pitches.
Although Colon fell short of the historic feat, the Rangers went on to win 3-1 in ten innings and win the series against Houston, taking 2 of 3.
