We start this blockbuster night with #1 Duke vs. #2 Michigan State and conclude with #4 Kansas vs. #7 Kentucky – this is going to be amazing! Let’s start with the first game, Duke and Michigan State.
I wish knew more about these two but the season is still so fresh and both teams have a lot of Freshman that I have yet to see play this year. Duke tuned up with two huge home wins against Elon and Utah Valley and Michigan State had a big win on the road against North Florida in their opener. I have to lean Duke in this early game as they are 11-2 in this series and won the past six meetings. I think this is going to be an epic game to start the season and I cannot wait to crack open a beer and watch these two go at it.
Not to be one upped, the second part of this double header is sure to impress as well. #4 Kansas takes on #7 Kentucky in what is sure to be a hell of a game as well.
Coach Cal knows that this is going to be a very hard game for his Wildcats to win tonight in the United Center.
“This is going to be a really hard game for us to win,” Calipari said. “Kansas is flying. They’re shooting 25 to 30 threes. They’re going to shoot them whether we’re zone, man, triangle-and-two, box-and-one. They’re taking 25 to 30 threes.
The good news for Coach Cal is that whenever he says these things, his team usually responds. We know that Kentucky will be flying around and keeping up with the Jayhawks and I expect this game to maybe even be better than the first. Reason I say that is that it will be very uptempo with young kids getting up and down the floor and making some impressive plays. Kentucky will have to take care of the basketball tonight to be able to stay in this basketball game. If they play too fast and turn the ball over then they will get ran out of the gym – but if they can play defense and take care of the basketball, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an upset here in Chicago.
