The Philadelphia 76ers are making head way in the East right now and the future is bright. They are one of the most exciting teams to watch in the NBA this season and the reason for that is: Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
Simmons and Embiid are a dynamic dou and sit at the top of prolific young stars in the league. They aren’t making major headlines as of yet, but they will soon enough. Simmons is averaging 18 ppg., 9 rpg., and 8.2 apg. with Embiid averaging 20.5 ppg., 10 rpg., and 1.4 bpg. The Sixers are sure to win more games than the team did last season (28-54).
All signs point to Simmons being ROY averaging the best stats out of all the rookies in the league right above Bulls Lauri Markkanen (16.3 ppg) and Lakers Kyle Kuzma (15.4 ppg).
The Sixers had a quite the beneficial offseason with veteran acquisitions of J.J. Redick and Amir Johnson. Redick is one of the best 3-Pt sharpshooters in NBA history sitting at number 40 on the all time 3-Pt field goals made list.
With Simmons on the floor, the Sixers have their solidified point guard that can amplify his teammates play. SF Convington has had quite the season as well so far averaging 15.4 ppg. (47% FG and 49% 3P). He is growing into one of the best 3&D players in the league.
The only downfall right now for the 76ers is Embiid’s minutes restrictions. Even though, he plays about 27.6 mpg, he has to play more in order to win. Embiid is the catalyst for this team and the organization knows it. He has had quite a bit of injuries in the past few years so the front office is skeptical of his health, which is understandable. At a point, they will have to play him without restrictions and live with what happens.
As of right now, it seems like the wait was worth it and the Sixers are here to dominate with their young core.
Sixers are currently the 6th seed (5-4) in the Eastern Conference.
