The Boston Celtics won their 9th straight last night (to move to 9-2 on the season) behind Kyrie Irving’s 35 points and 7 assists and Jason Tatum’s 21 points and 8 rebounds. It was the first time I saw Kyrie take over a game in the Green and I have to say, I loved every second of it.
This team continues to impress me with their grit and ability to win games on either the defensive side of the floor or the offensive side. Last night in Atlanta clearly wasn’t there best defensive outing, allowing 107 points per game – but they managed to find a way to answer the bell any time Altanta made a run, especially Kyrie and Tatum. It was a team effort though of course as Al Horford added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists (wow!). The offense is running through Al and Kyrie’s ability to shoot of the dribble and also get to the hole and finish is amazing. Jaylen Brown added 11 as well and along with Tatum, these two young bucks are really showing us something in the beginning of the season.
I really hope that Gordon Hayward makes a very fast recovery and we can see him in the late season and playoffs because I truly believe that this Green and White team is better than any team in the East right now. Hayward would just be the cherry on top.
Celtics next game is Wednesday at 8:00pm ET against the LA Lakers.
