Somber news out of Boston today with Gordon Hayward’s agent saying that it is unlikely that the All-Star guard will return to the court this year. Although, Hayward’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, went on to label the surgery a success saying:
“We expect him to make a full recovery and return to his All-Star form,”
The Boston Celtics paid tribute to Hayward last night as well, introducing him as part of the starting lineup:
As well as allowing Hayward to send a message to the Garden faithful in which the crowd went nuts:
As for the actual game, the Celts struggled again losing to the Bucks 108-100 and didn’t seem to have an answer for Giannis Antetokoumpo who went off for 37 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. The Bucks did look like a pretty good basketball team and I still love how the Celtics young guys looked and fought last night.
It doesn’t look like Kyrie Irving is ready to take a team on his back like Isaiah Thomas had to do for Boston, so let’s look to see if he settles in and starts feeling more comfortable scoring the ball and picking up for Hayward’s absence. The thing that really sucks that if Hayward was healthy – there is no doubt that this team would be 2-0 and poised for a very deep playoff run.
Guess we will have to wait until 2018-2019.
