2017 Boston Celtics Preview

The season is finally here and after a great looking preseason, I cannot wait to see what they bring tonight in Cleveland.  This will be a very early test for these C’s and I think we will see where this season is really going to go tonight on the road.  First, let’s take a look at their roster:

This is a legit Big 3 in Boston with Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving and Al Horford leading the charge and the amount of young talent they still have is just unbelievable.  The starting 5 of Irving, Jaylen Brown, Hayward, Jayson Tatum and Horford is a perfect mix of raw talent and youth – it will be very interesting to see how they mesh and if they will need to drop one of the young guys to help carry the 2nd unit.  I love Marcus Morris, Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier and Aron Baynes coming off the bench and for the first time in a number of years, the C’s finally have a big man who can play defense and rebound the basketball in Baynes.

I think we know one thing from this preseason where the C’s went undefeated, Kyrie Irving is good:

It is also good to see how he is not going to be selfish and still got Hayward and other teammates involved.  I was worried he would be the Carmelo Anthony of the Celtics and force the basketball in whenever he could and taking wild shots.  So far, that is definitely not the case.  He looks very comfortable playing under Brad Stevens and not seeming to force anything at all.

I think that if Irving, Hayward and Horford can stay healthy this team is going to be a very good basketball team.  I am very eager to see what Head Coach Brad Stevens can do with this kind of talent and look forward to a hell of a year!

Final prediction:  58 wins, 1st place in the Eastern Conference
