Dallas Keuchel takes the bump against Mashiaro Tanka tonight in Game 1 at Minute Maid Park in Houston and this is probably the easiest of the games to break down and pick a winner from.
Keuchel is 4-2 despite a 1.41 ERA against the Yankees lifetime and this Astros team is a lot different than those in the past. This Stros team can flat out hit the baseball as we saw in the ALDS where they dominated the Sox in 4 games, averaging 6 runs per game and knocking the possible AL Cy Young winner, Chris Sale around in Game 1.
Meanwhile, Tanka is taking the hill for the Yankees coming off a 1-0 win against the Indians where he went seven innings allowing just three hits and striking out seven. However, Tanaka has not had the same success against the Astros where he is 0-2 with a 10.38 ERA against Houston in four career starts. That’s not good for the Yankees if they are trying to come into Houston and steal Game 1 here tonight. However, you cannot overlook the fact of momemtum and the Yankees are flying high after taking Game 5 in Cleveland, so I do not know if it is worth laying all that juice on Kuechel. There is really only one play that stands out to me:
